At Cornell: Barvin has spent two seasons as a backup on the offensive line and will again challenge for additional playing time in his senior year. With a solid frame and strong work ethic, he will have a chance to play a bigger role on the offensive line as a senior. He saw his first varsity action in a win over Columbia in 2007. Barvin is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.

At Phillips Exeter: Barvin played one year at Phillips Exeter Academy after a strong high school career at the Kincaid School. A physically imposing athlete, Barvin played on both the offensive and defensive lines, helping Kincaid to a 9-1 record and an unbeaten league mark in 2003 en route to a Southwest Prep Conference championship. He also competed in basketball and track and field.

Personal: Joshua Meyer Barvin is the son of Mark and Martha Barvin and has an older and younger brother. His older brother, Eric, played basketball at Emory University.
