Oleg Brusilovsky

Oleg Brusilovsky joined head coach Iryna Dogikh's staff during the summer of 2012 and begins his second season with the Big Red.

In his first season on East Hill, Brusilovsky helped the squad to the best record in program history, going 18-7 overall. The team also finished fifth in the Ivy League with a mark of 2-4. With his guidance, half of Cornell's entries finished in the top 15 at the 2013 NCAA Northeast Regional, and Angelica Gangemi ’16 and April Whitney ’14 were selected to compete in the women's foil at the 2013 NCAA Fencing Championship. Gangemi finished 14th in the nation, while Whitney took 17th place, helping the Big Red to a 19th place team finish.

Brusilovsky is a former Soviet Union Champion and a five-time Ukrainian National Champion, competing in foil in the 1980's. For over 15 years, he represented Ukraine and the Soviet Union at the World Championships, as well as many other international competitions, and has received numerous medals during his years of competing.

Prior to coming to Cornell, Brusilovsky spent seven years at the well respected Fencing Academy of Westchester, where several of his students have become national champions. Prior to that, he served as the foil coach at the Blade Fencing Club in New York City, where he trained two members of the United State national foil team.

Since 2009, he has been a presenter at USFA sponsored fencing seminars.

Brusilovsky has a master’s degree in physical education and fencing from the Kyiv Academy of Physical Culture, one of the best physical education institutions in the world.
