Cornell University Athletics

As a junior (2016-17)
• Posted the second most wins on the saber squad and the eighth most on the team with a record of 31-25.
• Was nearly perfect at the Vassar Invitational, going 14-1.
• Went a perfect 3-0 at the Cornell Invitational.
• Picked up five wins in Ivy League action (5-13).
• Placed 25th overall at the 2017 NCAA Northeast Regional.

As a sophomore (2015-16)
• Posted the second most wins on the season for the Big Red saber squad with a record of 30-24 overall (8-8 Ivy).
• Opened the season with a seventh place finish at the Temple Open.
• Was nearly perfect at the Vassar Invitational, going 14-2 on the day.
• Was also the saber squad’s top finisher at the 2016 Ivy League Round Robin.

As a freshman (2014-15)
• Had a solid rookie season, posting the third most victories on the saber squad with a record of 14-19.
• Led all Big Red sabers at the 2015 Ivy League Round Robin with a record of 7-11, including winning records of 2-1 vs. Princeton, Yale and Columbia.
• Was also Cornell’s top saber finisher at the NCAA Northeast Regional, coming in at 20th overall.
• Represented the Big Red in the fifth annual Korea-USA Elite Fencing Invitational (KUEFI), held in Gangwon, South Korea.  

Prior to Cornell
• Earned four varsity letters at Bernards High School.
• Was a member of the Manhattan Fencing Center.
• Finished 10th at the 2013-14 Individual State Championship and helped Bernards to a silver medal in the team championship that season.
• A two-time first-team all-conference selection.
• Won four Skyland Conference team championships and four District 1 team championships.
• The saber squad leader from 2011-13.
• Earned a bronze (2011-12), silver (2013-14) and gold medal (2012-13) at the Santelli Tournament.
 
Personal
• Megan Elizabeth Buteau is the daughter of Stephen and Joan Buteau ’87 and she has one younger brother and one younger sister.
• Enrolled in the College of Engineering.
