Dolgikh on Sakowicz: I feel very fortunate to have Ola join our team. She is a strong and emotional fighter on the fencing strip, along with being a top caliber saberist with great athleticism, work ethic and strive to be an involved teammate and a future leader.

Prior to Cornell
An A-rated fencer, Sakowicz served as team captain of the Lilov Fencing Academy, where she is a student of a very respected and accomplished Coach Vladimir Lilov. She was the 2009-10 NJ Cup winner, and placed eighth overall at Summer Nationals in San Jose, Calif., taking third in the Senior Women's sabre team competition. She also lettered twice in volleyball at Union County Magnet HS, where she placed first at the East Side HS freshman tournament.

Personal
Aleksandra B. Sakowicz is the daughter of Jaroslaw and Bozena Sakowicz and she has one younger brother. She is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
