At Cornell
Rebecca Hirschfeld served as team captain during her senior season and was a second-team All-Ivy selection during the 2009-10 campaign. She was one of the Big Red’s top foil fencers all four years of her career and was named the 2009 recipient of Cornell’s Jeff Stenstrom Memorial Award. As a senior, she went 46-17 for the most wins on the foil squad and raked second overall with a .730 win percentage. She placed 10th overall at the NCAA regionals, narrowly missing out on a spot in the NCAA tournament. As a junior, she went  25-9, ranking second among all Big Red fencers with a win percentage of .735. She also posted a mark of 10-6 in the Ivy League, going a perfect 3-0 against Yale and 2-1 against Princeton, Penn and Brown. Hirschfeld finished 11th at the NCAA Regionals in foil with a record of 10-13 overall, narrowly missing a chance at advancing to the NCAA tournament for the second straight season. As a sophomore, Hirschfeld registered the most wins of any Big Red fencer, going 44-8 (.846) and was the team’s top finisher in the Ivy League tournament, posing a 13-5 record. Hirschfeld went on to finish 22nd at the NCAA Regionals. Hirschfeld had an outstanding rookie season, ranking second on the foil squad with a record of 28-18 (.609). They highlight of Hirschfeld’s season came at the 2009 IFA championships where she earned a bronze medal. Hirschfeld finished her season with a 14th place finish at NCAA regionals.


Prior to Cornell
Hirschfeld has been fencing for 10 years, including four years at the Horace Mann School. She was named her team’s VIP in 2004, 2006 and 2008 and served as team captain as a junior and senior. She also won her team’s Coaches’ Award in 2007. Hirschfeld also participated in volleyball for two years. 

Personal
Rebecca Claire Hirschfeld is the daughter of Alan Hirschfeld and Barbara Gould Hirschfeld. She comes from a fencing family, as her father fenced for Yale, while two uncles fenced for Harvard and another fenced for Trinity. Hirschfeld is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
