At Cornell
Horn, one of the team’s three captains for the 2008 season, was one of the main offensive threats for Big Red last year. She saw action in all 17 games, making 15 starts, and tying for the team lead with five goals and 14 points while finishing second overall with four assists. Horn’s first two goals of the season were arguably two of the biggest goals scored by the Big Red all year long. Not only did both of those goals come in Ivy League play, but both were game-winners that were scored in the final minute of regulation. Horn’s first goal of the season came with 21 seconds remaining at Princeton as she handed Cornell a 4-3 victory, its first win over the Tigers since 1990. Her second goal was scored with 46 seconds left to play as she led the Big Red to a 2-1 victory over Brown. Horn saw action in all 16 games as a sophomore, making five starts. She finished the 2006 season as the team’s Offensive MVP after ranking second on the team with four assists, fourth overall with 10 points and sixth overall with three goals. She was named the Ivy League co-Player of the Week on Nov. 6 after her stellar performance vs. Dartmouth in which she led the Big Red with a career-high three assists, falling one shy the school record, as Cornell stormed out to a commanding five-goal lead and cruised to victory, defeating Dartmouth, 5-2. A smart player who makes good decisions on the field, Horn was the recipient of the team’s most improved player award following her rookie campaign. As a freshman, Horn saw action in all 17 games, making one start, and scored two goals and added two assists.
At Severna Park HS
Horn earned first-team all-state, all-metro and all-county honors in both 2003 and 2004, when she helped Severna Park HS win the state title. A captain as a senior, Horn led her team to its second straight regional championship and its third county title in as many seasons. Her club team, Spark, won three indoor national championships and captured the 2004 National Festival title. Horn has competed in Futures Region 7 since 2002 and played in the national tournament in 2003 and 2004.
