Lisa Kadien begins her third year as the assistant coach for Cornell field hockey.

She has spent 10 years as a coach with the USFHA Futures Development Program, where she has taught advanced skills to some of the best young field hockey players in the country. She has helped develop many of today's Division I competitors while also shaping the skills of younger players who hope to some day play at the collegiate level. Kadien served as head coach for Virginia's U-19 team at the National Futures Tournament in 2000.

Kadien came to Cornell from the Foxcroft School in Middleburg, Va., where she was the director of athletics during the 1999-2000 school year. Besides representing the athletic interests for each of the school's teams, she served as head coach of both the field hockey and lacrosse teams. She also gained valuable coaching experience as head coach of the Hudson High freshman field hockey team in Hudson, Ohio, while she was getting her master's degree in sports administration/recreation at Kent State.

A 1997 graduate of Kent State, Kadien was a four-year member of the Golden Flashes' field hockey team, serving as captain her senior year. As a freshman she was selected as the Mid-American Conference Newcomer of the Year after scoring a goal and recording three assists in 18 games.

A native of Greene, N.Y., she spent four years as a player in the Futures' development program. She played in the Futures national tournament each year between 1990-93. During her career at Greene High School, Kadien was a member of the scholastic and open division field hockey teams and was selected to participate in the Empire State Games. She was a first-team All-New York selection as a senior.

She is married to Scott Kadien. The couple resides in Geneva, N.Y.
