Biography

At Cornell
Senior (2012):
Collins has been named a captain for the 2012 season.
 
Junior (2011):
Collins continues to be an integral part of the Big Red midfield, starting all 17 games on the season. One of the best defenders on the team, she was also a big part of the teams’ penalty corner unit, serving as stick-stopper and registering five assists. She also added one goal for seven points on the season. Collins registered the game-winner in a 1-0 victory over Villanova and assisted on the game-winner against Georgetown. She also tallied a season-high two assists against Brown.

Sophomore (2010): Collins continued to be an integral part of the Big Red defense, starting all 16 games during her sophomore season. She was a key member of a defensive unit that allowed the second fewest goals in conference play (11) and held its opponents to just 6.06 penalty corners per game and just 10.2 shots per game.

Freshman (2009): As a rookie, Collins started all 15 games of the season for the Big Red. She was an integral part of a defensive unit that allowed just 5.3 penalty corners per game, the best school average since the stat began to be recorded in 1998. She also registered one goal, scoring in the shutout win against Siena on Sept. 9. Following the season, Collins won the team’s Class of ’91 Cup, which is chosen by the senior class and given annually to the player with the most promising future.

At MacDonell Collegiate
Genevieve Collins was a four-year varsity member of the field hockey team at Miles MacDonell Collegiate. She served as team captain during her final two seasons and was named the league MVP in both 2007 and 2008. As a member of Team Manitoba, she was a two-time tournament all-star, earning the U19 national field hockey championship in 2008 and the national field hockey senior championship in 2007. Collins also played volleyball for four seasons and basketball for three seasons. 

Personal
Genevieve Nicole Collins is the daughter of Grant and Pam Collins and she has two older sisters. She is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
