Freshman (2013): Varga saw significant playing time during her rookie season, playing in 14 games for the Big Red.

At River Hill HS
Varga earned three varsity letters at River Hill high school, serving as team captain during her senior season and helping the team to a Class 3A state championship in 2010. She was named the 2012 Howard County field hockey player of the year and was a two time-first-team all-county selection. Following her senior season, Varga was named to the Maryland field hockey all-star team, was a first-team all-state selection, a first-team Washington Post All-Met selection and a Baltimore Sun All-Met second-team selection. As a junior she was named second-team all-state and Washington Post All-Met second-team. Varga also won two National Futures championships. She lettered four times in softball and was two-time all-county selection.

Personal
Kathryn Lenore Varga is the daughter of Richard and Deborah Varga and she has one older brother and one older sister. She is enrolled in the Cornell College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
