Emani Fenton, 2010 head shot

Emani Fenton

Former All-Ivy League defensive back Emani Fenton ’11 will begin his second season as an assistant coach at Cornell and moves over to instruct the inside linebackers while serving as recruiting coordinator.

Fenton returned to his alma mater as defensive backs coach in 2012 after spending a year in the private sector after graduation. His knowledge of the position and enthusiasm for Cornell has provided the Big Red program a whole new energy on the practice field and in recruiting. The development of young corners Jarrod Watson-Lewis, Kendall Brown and Michael Turner during the season was impressive.

A three-year starter and a second-team All-Ivy pick as a senior, Fenton led the Ivy League and ranked 17th in the NCAA in interceptions (five) and was second in the Ancient Eight in passes defended (12). Fenton was named Ivy League Defensive Player of the Week once during the season, when his breakup of a two-point conversion and interception in the end zone in the final minute sealed Cornell's win over Princeton. Fenton was invited to play in the FCS Senior Scout Bowl and the Dixie Gridiron Classic senior all-star games and also took home the team’s Pop Warner Team MVP and Jack Murphy "Big Play" Award.

A native of Ashburn, Va., Fenton graduated from Cornell with a degree from the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences in 2011. After graduation, Fenton worked for PricewaterhouseCoopers based in Atlanta, Ga.
