Recruiting Areas: Alabama, Arkansas, Florida, Georgia, Mississippi, New York (607 area code - Section 4)

Jason Houghtaling enters his first season as Cornell’s offensive coordinator in 2013 with the goal of building a balanced and dynamic attack. He will work with the offensive line while managing the offensive gameplan.

Houghtaling will look to duplicate the success he has had in building  offenses at Wagner, who ranked among the most balanced teams in the country in his two seasons as the program’s offensive and recruiting coordinator. His offense had the fewest giveaways in the FCS and ranked 34th nationally in rushing in 2012 on its way to an NEC champion and the FCS playoffs. In his first season, Wagner featured star running back Dominique Williams, who ranked among the national leaders by rushing for 121.6 yards per game and 14 total touchdowns. He posted eight 100-yard games in 11 contests.

Prior to his time at Wagner, Houghtaling had spent four years as an assistant coach at Wagner before one season as head coach at Hudson Valley Community College (2010). During his first stint at Wagner, Houghtaling had served as both running backs and offensive line coach.

Houghtaling began his career coaching at Milford Academy and Windsor HS. At Milford, he helped the team to a 20-3 mark as the defensive coordinator. He was the defensive line and strength and conditioning coach there.

A 2004 graduate of Binghamton with a degree in History, he earned a Master's in Education from Wagner in 2009. He started college as a defensive lineman at Lafayette before injuries cut short his playing time and he transferred to Binghamton. Houghtaling and his wife have two daughters, Abbie and Emma.
