Robert Tattersall, recently the wide receivers coach at West Chester University, has been hired to coach the wide receivers for the Cornell University football team by first-year head coach Tim Pendergast.

Tattersall coached the wide receivers at West Chester for three seasons. He assisted in game planning and breaking down opponents' film, and he conducted daily position meetings. His game day responsibilities included relaying coverages, blitzes and offensive suggestions to the offensive coordinator. He also handled punt and kickoff returns for the special teams. During his three years, he coached a two-time All-American and he helped lead West Chester to the top ranking in passing offense during the 1999 PSAC season. West Chester won the PSAC championship during the 1999 season. The year before, Tattersall coached the Division II national leader in total receptions, receptions per game, yards per game and touchdown receptions. The West Chester offense also boasted the Division II passing leader in 1998, averaging 313.8 yards per game. Tattersall also had recruiting responsibilities, handling northwestern Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Delaware.

While pursuing his master's degree in educational foundations at Widener University, Tattersall coached the defensive backs at Widener from 1996 until 1998. He assisted in game planning for coverages, blitzes and scouting of opponents, and he evaluated opponents' passing offenses. He prepared and conducted daily position meetings, and he served as the defensive coordinator for the J.V. team. Tattersall also assisted in recruiting and served as the academic liaison for the football team.

Tattersall earned his bachelor's of science degree at the University of Delaware, where he was a member of the Blue Hens' football team. He began his coaching career as an undergraduate, as he served as assistant football coach for the Wilmington Friends School in 1995.
