Tim Simpson returns to his alma mater and will begin his first season as an assistant coach on Jim Knowles[apos] staff, working with the linebackers.
Simpson spent the 2004 season at Marist as the defensive line coach, where he mentored the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference[apos]s Rookie of the Year, as well as a first team all-league selection and two second-team picks. One of his players was named to the Mid-Major All-America second team. He was part of a defense that recorded 29 sacks on the year for the Red Foxes, which went 3-1 in MAAC play to finish second in the league.
Simpson came to the Red Foxes having spent the previous season as the defensive coordinator at Washingtonville High School, leading the varsity squad to a Section IX Class AA Division championship. In that role, he oversaw and implemented the defensive scheme for the program, and lowered the program[apos]s points allowed by 17 points per game from the previous season. Simpson has also worked in the professional world, spending time as a senior associate at PricewhaterhouseCoopers LLP and as a hospitality appraiser at Cushman & Wakefield.
A 1994 graduate of Cornell with a degree in hotel administration, Simpson played four seasons at defensive tackle for the Big Red. The Washingtonville, N.Y., native, and his wife, Dina, reside in Ithaca.
