Biography
As a Junior (2014)
• Hagy earned second team All-Ivy honors after ranking third in Ivy League in rushing (734 yards, 81.6 per game) while adding six total touchdowns (four rushing, two receiving) and passing for one.
• He had three 100-yard rushing games, all coming in the final three contests of 2014.
• During the season, Hagy became first player in Cornell history to reach 1,000 career yards both rushing and receiving and the 29th player in school history to surpass the century mark in career rushing yards.
• He will enter his senior season with at least one reception in all 29 of his games, and if he makes a catch in all 10 games as a senior, will match the school record.
• Hagy ran for a career-high 148 yards on 19 carries and scored three total touchdowns (two rushing, one receiving) in the win at Columbia. Included was a game-winning 63-yard touchdown run in the fourth quarter against the Lions.
• He also had carries for 48 and 49 yards on the year, the three longest carries by a Cornell player since 2010.
• Hagy posted 110 rushing yards on 18 carries vs. Dartmouth, while also catching four passes for 28 yards and completing a pass for 19 yards, and ran for 111 yards on 23 carries against Penn while catching four passes for 50 additional yards.
• Hagy ran 16 times for 91 yards and a touchdown, caught three passes for 45 yards and even threw a touchdown pass in a loss to defending Ivy champion Princeton.
As a Sophomore (2013)
• An honorable mention All-ivy League selection as a sophomore, Hagy led all Ivy League running backs in receptions (55), receiving yards (652) and receiving touchdowns (five).
• He ranked fifth in the Ivy League in receptions and seventh in receiving yardage.
• He also led the Big Red in rushing (340 yards).
• Hagy surpassed 1,000 career receiving yards with a four-catch, 47-yard effort at Dartmouth while posting a season-high 76 yards rushing with eight receptions for 78 yards at Ivy champ Princeton.
• Hagy had his first career 100-yard receiving game with 10 catches for 104 yards against Colgate and registered a career-high 201 all-purpose yards against the Bears.
• He had 110 all-purpose yards against Columbia, including rushing a career-best 25 times for 73 yards and caught touchdown passes against Yale, Brown and Bucknell.
As a Freshman (2012)
• Hagy was one of 20 finalists for the Jerry Rice Award, given annually to the national freshman of the year in the Football Championship Subdivision after a tremendous rookie year.
• Cornell's leading rusher (528 yards, seven touchdowns), he ranked seventh in the Ivy League in that category.
• Hagy was one of two Big Red freshmen named to the College Sports Journal 2012 FCS All-Freshman Team.
• The two-time Ivy League Rookie of the Week ranked second in the Ancient Eight in both scoring and all-purpose yardage in conference games only.
• He finished the year ranked in the top 10 in the Ivy in rushing, receptions, all-purpose yards and scoring.
• The conference's top receiving back, he finished fourth on the squad in receptions (48) and receiving yards (513) with two touchdowns.
• Hagy established a Cornell freshman record with his 1,054 all-purpose yards.
• He posted his first career 100-yard rushing game with 124 yards and a touchdown on 18 carries at Columbia, adding eight receptions for 62 yards.
• He ran for 69 yards and three touchdowns on 15 carries against Ivy champ Penn, while also catching seven passes for 83 yards.
• Hagy scored a receiving touchdown vs. Dartmouth and had 88 yards rushing and two touchdowns vs. Yale, part of a day with 157 all-purpose yards.
At Mt. Lebanon HS
• Hagy was a two-time first-team all-state selection at Mt. Lebanon HS.
• He led the league with 1,907 rushing yards and 25 touchdowns as a senior, and in the process, became the school’s career rushing leader.
• Hagy was named the Army Iron Man of the Year for Pennsylvania as the state’s best two-way player as a senior.
• He totaled 2,125 all-purpose yards with 25 touchdowns and six two-point conversion scores at running back and posted 81 tackles with three interceptions and 11 pass breakups.
• Hagy was named the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Athlete of the Year as a junior after running for 1,981 yards and 29 touchdowns with a healthy average of 7.0 yards per carry.
• He closed his career having rushed for more than 4,000 career yards.
• Hagy was a three-sport star and captained each, starting for at least three seasons in football, basketball and baseball.
• He was a three-year captain in football and baseball and a two-year captain for the basketball team.
• He was an all-section selection as an outfielder after hitting .451 as a junior and was the starting point guard on a team that reached the finals of the state championship tournament.
• In the hardwood, Hagy set school records for career assists (486) and steals (380) while scoring 879 points and was named first-team all-league at a senior.
Personal
• Luke David Hagy is the son of Scott and Karen Hagy and has an oldeer sister.
• His grandfather, Anthony Cugini, played football at Penn.
• He is enrolled in the College of Agriculture and Life Sciences.
