Biography

A two-year letterman in football, he was an outstanding left tackle and place-kicker for the Big Red in 1930 and 1932. He was an Associated Press All-America honorable mention selection and an AP All-East second-team pick in 1932 when Cornell went 5-2-1. He lettered as a catcher on the baseball team as a sophomore. A native Ithacan, George was inducted into the Section 4 Athletic Hall of Fame in 1979 on the basis of his all-around athletic showing at Ithaca High School. He was a star football lineman and was a basketball and baseball regular at IHS. He retired in 1972 as assistant regional parks manager of the Finger Lakes State Parks Commission.
