Biography

He was a two-time outdoor Heptagonal champion in the 880-yard run, helping Cornell to a third-place finish in 1974. He also ran the anchor leg on the two-mile relay team which won the indoor Heps title in 1974. He placed fourth in the 880 in both 1973 and 1974 at the outdoor IC4A championships, and was fourth in the U.S. Federation championships in 1973. He ran a leg on the mile relay which was second at the Penn Relays in 1973, and ran the anchor leg on the two mile relay which enabled Cornell to place third at the Relays in 1974. He also anchored the two mile relay to the nation[apos]s fastest clocking in 1974 at the Nittany Lion Relays. He placed third in the 1,000-yard run at the 1974 indoor IC4As, setting a Cornell record with his time of 2:09.4, and was fifth in the 880 at the outdoor NCAA championships in 1974, again setting another Cornell record in running 1:49.2. He also set school records in the indoor and outdoor mile. Captain of the team as a senior, Anastasio was a three-year letterman in cross country. A native of the Bronx N.Y., he graduated from Fordham Prep.
