As a member of the gymnastics team, he won five individual Ivy League titles, helping Cornell to four straight Ivy team titles from 1972-75. He was the Ivy champion in the long horse vault in 1973 and 1975, the parallel bars in 1974, and the floor exercise and all-around in 1975. He placed eighth n the vault at the 1975 NCAA championships, one of only three gymnasts from the East to make the finals. He qualified for the national championships on the basis of his second-place finish at the Eastern championships that year. He also placed third in the all-around at the Easterns. He set the school record in the all-around and vault and was tri-captain of the team as a senior. He is a graduate of the Reading (Pa.) High School.
