Biography

As a stellar pivotman in basketball, he was instrumental in the achieving of the best record in Cornell basketball history in 1950-51 when the team compiled a 20-5 mark. He was runner-up in team scoring as a junior and senior and was selected by the coaches on the All-Ivy second team and made several all-opponent teams. In track, he competed in the high hurdles and the jumps, and won the IC4A 120-high hurdles championship in 1951. In addition, he won the outdoor Heptagonal 120-hurdles title in 1949 and again in 1950. He placed fourth in the triple jump at the 1952 Olympic Games. As an undergraduate he resided in East Liverpool, Ohio.
