His outstanding play as a midfielder on the lacrosse team earned him All-Ivy and All-America first-team honors in both 1977 and 1978, helping the [apos]77 team to the NCAA championship and a runner-up finish in [apos]78. Over his two-year career, he tallied 38 goals and 22 assists for 60 points and was the team[apos]s top face-off man both seasons. He was selected to play for the United States in the World Championships in England in 1978. In football, he was tailback as a senior and played fullback his junior year. He led the team in rushing and scoring in 1977 though playing in just seven games because of injuries. Jaeger transferred to Cornell after graduating from Nassau Community College, where he was a two-time MVP of the National Junior College Athletic Association. He attended Massapequa (N.Y.) High School, where he earned All-America honors in lacrosse and was all-county as a fullback-linebacker in football.
