He was a first-team All-America, All-Ivy and All-ECAC goaltender in 1983. He was also named to the All-Ivy first team in 1981, and in 1980 he became the first freshman ever selected as the most valuable player of the ECAC championship tournament, as Cornell won the Eastern title and participated in the NCAA tournament. Eliot, who was named team MVP in 1983, finished his four-year career ranked eighth on the Big Red[apos]s all-time goalie list with a 3.78 goals against average and ranked second in saves with 2,143. He was the goalie for the 1984 Canadian Olympic team. He was the co-recipient of the Ithaca Journal Male Athlete of the Year Award in 1983. Drafted in 1980 by the Los Angeles Kings, he spent five seasons playing in the National Hockey League, with L.A., Detroit and Buffalo. Eliot attended O[apos]Neill CVI in Oshawa, Ont.
