A three-year letter winner, he was a member of two IRA varsity heavyweight championship crews. He rowed in the No.6 seat wit the 1981 champions and in the No.5 seat in 1982 when Cornell again captured the title. The 1981 varsity eight went on to compete in the Henley Royal Regatta in England, losing to the 1980 Thames Cup champion, the University of London. In the summer of 1981, he was the stroke for the United States crew which won a bronze medal at the World Championships held in Munich. He also rowed with the U.S. National crew which finished seventh in the World Championships in 1983. Clark rowed the bow seat in the silver-medal-winning four-man without coxswain at the 1984 Olympic Games, placing second to New Zealand. The Columbia, Mo., native is a graduate of David H. Hickman High School.
