He was a three-year letterman as a guard on the varsity football teams of 1959, 1960 and 1961. He was named to the Coaches All-Ivy second team, in addition to earning Associated Press All-Ivy second team, AP All-East honorable mention and ECAC Major College All-East first-team honors in 1961. He was also the co-recipient of the team[apos]s Pop Warner Most Valuable Player Award in 1961. Thomas, who received his bachelor[apos]s degree in mechanical engineering from Cornell in 1963, graduated from Canton (Pa.) High School and makes his home in Kennett Square, Pa.
