Biography

He retired in July 1998 as Cornell[apos]s sports information director after 21 years of publicizing Big Red sports teams. He served in the same capacity at Bucknell University (1967-77) and at Ithaca College (1965-67). During his tenure as an SID, he received more than 20 national awards for outstanding publications. In 1992, the College Sports Information Directors of America presented him with the Arch Ward Award, given annually to a CoSIDA member who has made an outstanding contribution in the field of college sports infuriating and by his prestige has enhanced the profession. He served on the CoSIDA Board of Directors for two years prior to taking over the treasurer[apos]s post in 1977, a position he continues to hold. He was inducted into the CoSIDA Hall of Fame in 1986 and the Ithaca College Sports Hall of Fame in 1987. Wohlhueter is a past president of the Eastern College Athletic Conference Sports Information Directors of America and received that group[apos]s Irving T. Marsh Service Bureau Cooperation Award in 1987. He was president of the collegiate baseball writers for two years and in 1997 he was the recipient of the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Wilbur Snypp Award for meritorious service. In addition, he was also a member of the college football and basketball writers organizations. He was the recipient of the Elmore [quote]Scoop[quote] Hudgins Sports Information Lifetime Achievement Award from the All-American Football Foundation in 1997. He was a member of the press services staff at the 1981 National Sports Festival, the 1983 and [apos]87 Pan American Games, the 1993 World University Games, the 1996 Summer Olympics and the 1998 Goodwill Games.
