A versatile three-year, two-sport letterman, he was a starter in both baseball and football. He garnered All-Ivy honorable mention honors on the gridiron as a defensive back in 1974 and again in 1976 as a DB and punter. An outfielder in baseball, he had an outstanding senior year, when Cornell put together one of its finest seasons ever with a 29-15 overall record, won the EIBL title and made its first appearance ever in the NCAA playoffs. He was a unanimous EIBL first-team all-star selection and an All-Ivy first-team pick, and was also selected to the All-Northeast Regional second team and the Upper New York Association of College Baseball Coaches all-star first unit. He was runner-up in the EIBL for batting honors, hitting .444 in 14 league games and .341 for all contests. He led Cornell in runs scored, home runs, stolen bases, walks and drove in 27 runs.
