Gary Gronowski

Biography

He was an Eastern Intercollegiate Baseball League first-team selection as a pitcher in 1977, when Cornell won its first EIBL title in 37 years and made its first appearance in the NCAA playoffs. Gronowski had a 4-0 record and an ERA of 2.45 in league play, and topped the Cornell pitching staff with an overall record of 10-2 and an earned run average of 2.49. In addition, he was an All-Ivy first-team pick and was named to the All-Northeast Regional second team and to the first team on the Upper New York Association of College Baseball Coaches all-star squad. An EIBL honorable mention pick the 1976, he had an ERA of 3.07 overall and threw a no-hitter vs. Hartwick. The team MVP in 1977, he holds Cornell seasonal marks for wins (10), complete games (10) and innings pitched (101.3). Gronowski came to Cornell after an outstanding career at Titusville, Fla., High School and at Valencia Community College.
