Cornell University Athletics

He was a sprinter for the track team during all four of his undergraduate years, earning letters in 1928 and [apos]29. His interest in sports and track in particular led him to endow the George E. Heekin Coach of Track position at Cornell in 1979. It is believed to be the first endowed coaching position at any university. The endowment will help guarantee the future progress of track at the University. He came to Cornell from Withrow High School in Cincinnati, Ohio.
