Gregory Meyers

Biography

The right-handed pitcher was an All-Eastern Intercollegiate Baseball League (EIBL) second-team selection three straight years, after being named to the All-EIBL first team as a freshman, when he compiled an overall record of 6-0 and a 3.36 ERA. Greg was also a three-time All-Ivy first-team pick and was a second team selection in 1981. H set Cornell career records for wins (23), innings pitched (256.3), games (42), complete games (28), walks (107) and strikeouts (217). He threw a no-hitter vs. Canisius in 1979. Over his four-year career, he compiled a win-loss record of 23-9. Meyers was named to the second team of the College Sports Information Directors of America (CoSIDA) Academic All-America baseball team in 1981, when he had an 8-1 overall record with a 1.74 ERA while also maintaining a 3.4 grade point average as a mechanical engineering major in Cornell[apos]s College of Engineering. He completed every game he started in 1981 for the Big Red, which finished 22-19 overall and 7-5 in the league, and was named the team[apos]s most valuable player. Meyers was co-captain of the 1982 team. He is a graduate of The Trumbull (Conn.) High School.
