Cornell University Athletics

He was a fullback on the varsity football team for three years, earning letters in 1932 and 1933. As a boxer, hew was the University[apos]s undefeated champion in three weight classes (165, 175, and heavyweight) during four years and reached the quarterfinals of the Olympic tryouts in 1932. Following graduation, while attending Cornell Law School, he served as the University[apos]s first official boxing coach when boxing was added to the varsity sports schedule in 1934. He graduated with honors in 1936 and practiced law in his native Utica, N.Y., until he volunteered for active sea duty with the U.S. Navy in the Pacific during World War II. After the war, he returned to Utica to practice law in partnership with his brother, Moses [apos]39, and he served one term as Judge of the City Court of Utica.
