Biography

A two-sport standout, he led the soccer team in scoring in 1986 and 1987, graduating as the school[apos]s fourth all-time leading scorer with 48 points on 21 goals and six assists. He was named to the All-Ivy first team in both 1985 and 1986 and earned second-team All-Ivy honors in 1987. He was also a three-time first-team All-New York selection. The runner-up for Ivy Player of the Year honors in 1986, when he led the league in scoring, he captained the squad his senior year and was twice named the team[apos]s MVP. As a member of the track team, he set the school record in the 500 meters in placing third at the indoor Heptagonal championships in 1986. He also ran the third leg of the 4x400 relay, which won the indoor and outdoor Heps championship in 1986 and 1988, setting the school and indoor Heps record in 1988. The 4x400 relay also placed second in the outdoor IC4A championship final to earn All-East honors in 1986. Bayne placed third in the outdoor Heps 400 meters in 1985, helping the Big Red to the team championship. A three-time GTE Academic All-American, he maintained a 4.0 as a mechanical engineering major.
