Biography

The three-year varsity lacrosse letterman was a first-team All-America selection in 1971 after receiving honorable mention in 1970. He was the recipient of the Schmeisser Memorial Cup as the nation[apos]s outstanding defenseman in Division 1 in 1971, when Cornell won the National Collegiate Athletic Association (NCAA) championship and won its third straight Ivy League title. He was a unanimous All-Ivy first-team pick in 1971, after being named to the second team in 1970 and was an honorable mention All-Ivy choice in 1969. A tri-captain of the lacrosse team his senior year, Burnap played freshman football and was a starting tight end and letterman for the varsity in 1970. He is a graduate of Pelham (N.Y.) High School.
