John Skawaski

Biography

An outstanding athlete, he played three years of varsity baseball, two years of varsity football and spent one season with the lightweight football team. He was also an outstanding boxer, and at one time he held University championships in two weight divisions simultaneously. He was a two-way back in football, and set the Cornell varsity single-game scoring record vs. the Sub-base in 1945, accounting for three touchdowns and kicking three extra points. He was an infielder in baseball and was co-captain of the 1946 team. Skawski retired from his position as superintendent of schools in Canandaigua, N.Y., in 1990.
