She captured the nation[apos]s individual collegiate title at the Intercollegiate Women[apos]s Fencing Association National Championships in 1968, as Cornell won its second straight team crown. She placed fifth in the individual competition at the 1967 NIWFA championships Denton, who never fenced until her freshman year at Cornell, compiled an excellent overall record of 158-18 during her final two seasons, while the team[apos]s record was 38-2 during that time. She was captain of the team as a senior.
