Karla Griffin

Biography

She was a four-year letter winner in both field hockey and lacrosse as a defender. In field hockey, she was named to the Penn-Monto Mideast Region All-America first team as a junior and senior. She was named to the All-Ivy first team as a senior and the second unit as a junior. In lacrosse, she was named to the Brine Northeast Regional All-America first team in 1987, when the Big Red went 11-3 overall, its best season ever. A two-time All-Ivy second-team pick, she was co-captain in 1987. Griffin was the recipient of one of 10 New York State Women[apos]s Collegiate Athletic Association Scholar-Athlete Recognition awards. The recipients were chosen from the state[apos]s 7,000 women athletes and given for academic standing, sportsmanship and outstanding athletic achievements. In 1987-88 she was an assistant coach at Cornell in both field hockey and lacrosse. She is a graduate of Great Valley High School in Malvern, Pa.
