Ken Dryden

Biography

He was a three-time All-America, All-ECAC and All-Ivy first-team goaltender for the hockey team. He set most of the Cornell goaltending records, including career saves, and season and career shutouts and goals against average. Over his three-year varsity career, he compiled a won-lost record of 76-4-1. He also backstopped Cornell to the NCAA championship in 1967, and three straight Ivy League and ECAC championship titles. Following his outstanding career at Cornell, he went on to have a Hall of Fame career in the NHL for the Montreal Canadiens. He contributed to six Stanley Cup championships in nine seasons from 1970-71 to 1978-79. He was named a first-team NHL All-Star five times and a second-team All-Star once. He was a five-time recipient of the Vezina Trophy, earned the Calder Memorial Trophy as the league[apos]s rookie of the year, and was honored with the Conn Smythe Trophy, given to the most valuable player for his team in the NHL playoffs in 1971.
