Louis Daukas

Biography

An outstanding two-port athlete, he won three letters in football (1941, 1942 and 1946) and two in baseball (1942 and 1947). He was elected co-captain of the 1943 football squad but was called into military service. While serving in the Army during World War II, he played football with the Fort Warren, Wyo., team. Daukas was an Associated Press All-America honorable mention selection at center in 1946. He played for the Eastern College All-Stars vs. the New York Giants in the New York Herald Tribune Fresh Air Fund game at the Polo Grounds in September 1947. He went on to play pro football. A first-baseman, he was one of Cornell[apos]s leading hitters on the 1947 baseball team, batting .301. Daukas came to Cornell from Nashua, N.H.
