He was the second-place finisher at the 1921 Intercollegiate Association of Amateur Athletes of America (IC4A) cross country championships, helping Cornell to its second consecutive team title. He placed eighth at the IC4A cross country championships the previous year. The two-year letterman in both track and cross country won the two-mile run at the indoor track IC4A championships in 1922, when Cornell won the team title. He placed fifth in the outdoor IC4A two-mile event in 1922. Brown came to Cornell as an undergraduate from Bernardsville, N.J.
