Phil Ratner

Biography

A three-year varsity starter, Ratner was captain of the 1965 football team. He was a two-time Coaches and Associated Press All-Ivy first-team selection as a defensive tackle. He was named to the Associate Press All-East first defensive team in 1965 after being an honorable mention pick in 1964. Ratner received honorable mention AP All-America accolades in 1964 and [apos]65. He was voted the team[apos]s best defensive player in 1964 and [apos]65 and also received the outstanding freshman lineman award in 1962. He was named the Cornell Daily Sun Athlete of the Year in 1966. He signed a contract to play professional football with the Miami Dolphins, but suffered a career-ending injury. He graduated from Winthrop (Mass.) High School.
