He was a three-time All-American, earning the honor in the 50 freestyle at the NCAA swimming championships in 1954 and 1955 and as a member of the 400 free relay also in 1954. As a sophomore, he went 4-0 in the 50 free in dual meets, 6-2 as a junior and 10-1 as a senior. He also competed in the 100 free, going 6-1 in dual meets as a senior. He placed fifth in the 50 freestyle and swam a leg of the sixth-place 400 relay at the 1955 Eastern championships. He swam the leadoff leg of the 400 free relay that placed third at the Easterns in 1954. He lives in Houston, Texas.
