Biography

He was a four-time All-Ivy selection as a forward in hockey, earning first-team honors in 1978 and 1980, second-team accolades in 1982 and honorable mention in 1981. He was named to the NCAA all-tournament team in 1980, when Cornell advanced to the NCAA semifinals after capturing the Eastern College Athletic Conference (ECAC) championship title. He led the ECAC (18-22-40) and the team (20-25-45) in scoring in 1982. Kerling ranks third on Cornell[apos]s all-time career points list (200), third in career assists (30) and points (59). He was selected to play in the American Hockey Coaches Association All-Star game as a senior. He was a fifth-round pick by the Minnesota North Stars in the 1978 NHL draft.
