A double letter-winner in both football and wrestling, he earned greatest fame as a starting tackle and outstanding kicker on the gridiron, handling both kickoffs and field goals. He was one of the stars of the undefeated teams of [apos]21 and [apos]22 and was known as one of the fastest tackles in the East. He was the Eastern Intercollegiate wrestling champion in the light heavyweight class as a junior and again as a senior. Coincidentally, Cornell won the Eastern Intercollegiate team championship both times.
