Thomas Fennell II

Biography

He was a left end on the football teams of 1923 and 1924, and a starter and letter winner on the 1925 team which compiled a 6-2 record. He was recognized by the Spaulding Official Football Guide as one of the leading ends in the country for the 1925 campaign. Fennell won the University heavyweight boxing championship as a freshman, junior and senior, and boxed with some of the top-flight professionals after graduation. He served as an assistant football coach under Gil Dobie from 1927-31 while attending the Cornell Law School, earning his degree in 1929. He was a partner in the law firm of Shearman & Sterling.
