McGory[apos]s 33-year career as a member of the Cornell athletic staff began in 1949 when he was appointed as an assistant trainer. In 1967 he took over the head trainer[apos]s position, retiring from that post in 1982. His primary responsibilities as a trainer were with football, basketball and baseball. He was also an assistant varsity baseball coach for the Big Red from 1962-82. A graduate of Dryden (N.Y.) High School and the Curtis Technical School of Chicago, McGory served in the Air Force during World War II. For many years, he was active as a player and coach in semipro and youth baseball programs in the area. He was a catcher-outfielder in the old New York state baseball league, served as director of the Kiwanis Grasshopper baseball program for nine years here and coached the district Babe Ruth baseball champions in 1965. He was also a past president of the Finger Lakes Chapter of Basketball Officials.
