Biography

At Cornell
McGowan earned his first varsity letter on the offensive line at tackle, seeing action in nine contests with two starts in 2010. He opened the season-opener at Wagner and also earned a start against Yale. A converted tight end, he missed most of his freshman season with an injury and spent 2009 with the junior varsity. McGowan is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.

At Saint Rita of Cascia
A second-team all-league pick as a senior at Saint Rita of Cascia, McGowan was part of a team that claimed the 2007 Chicago Prep Bowl championship. An accomplished blocker, he also caught six passes for 96 yards and two touchdowns in 2007. McGowan helped lead his team to a state title as a junior, blocking for a team that totaled more than 3,000 rushing yards.

Personal
John Andrew McGowan is the son of John and Jan McGowan and has a younger brother. His father played football at Western Michigan and Southern Illinois, while his uncle, Mark, was a four-year starter at Illinois. His uncle, John Rudolph, played football at Iowa.
