David Taylor's up-to-date results

As a Senior (2016-17)

Taylor ran in three cross country meets during his senior season. He started off with an 18th place finish at the Spiked Shoe Invitational and went on to finish 80th at the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships.

Taylor wrapped up his career at Cornell at the NCAA Division I East Preliminary Round, taking 40th in the 5000 meters. At the Ivy League Indoor Track and Field Championships, Taylor was a double-scorer for the team, taking fifth in both the 3000 and 5000.

As a Junior (2015-16)
Taylor had a strong start to his junior cross country season, finishing second at the season-opening Brother Jasper Invitational. He also competed against the nations best runners at Division I Pre-Nationals, and placed 55th at Ivy League Cross Country Championships.

On the track, Taylor picked up a personal best in the 3K at the Fastrack National Invitational, finishing in 8:12.30. At Ivy League Indoor Heptagonals, he placed 11th in the event. Outdoors, he won the 1500 at the UC Riverside Spring Break Invitational and placed fifth in the 5K at the UCLA Bruins Legends of Track and Field Distance Carnival. He placed 19th in the 10K at Outdoor Heps.

As a Sophomore (2014-15)
Taylor finished in sixth (25:05.52) in the season-opening dual-meet at Army and got his first exposure to a big national stage at Pre-Nationals.
 
On the track, Taylor won the 3K at the Sykes-Sabock Challenge (8:18.05) and came in third in the same event at the Beantown Challenge (8:24.97). In the 5000, he bettered the track record at Kane Sports Complex, finishing first at 14:24.64 at the Cornell Outdoor Invitational.

As a Freshman (2013-14)
Taylor had a strong freshman campaign that saw him place 88th at the Ivy League/Heptagonal Championships with a time of 25:32.7. He also raced at the season-opener against Army, the Paul Short Invitational, the Princeton Invitational and the Reif Memorial Run, where he placed 11th with a time of 25:25.3.

Taylor followed a successful cross country season with a solid season on the track as a steady contributor in the distance races. He had a strong showing at the Robert J. Kane Invitational, helping the 4x8 relay team to a 2nd place finish, while running a personal best mile time of 4:15.39. He concluded the indoor season at the IC4A’s, coming just 0.25 seconds short of breaking his personal best in the 3000 to finish 40th. Outdoors, he focused primarily on the 5000. He finished 23rd at the Penn Relays. The following week he paced the field with a personal best 14:32.71 at the Cornell Outdoor Invitational. He concluded his first season at the IC4A’s, finishing 32nd in the 5000.
 
Before Cornell 
Taylor competed on the cross country and indoor and outdoor track and field teams as a distance runner at Western Albemarle HS for four seasons; captaining all three.  He was a three-time VHSLAA Indoor State Champion, winning at 1600-meters in 2012, and both the 1600 and 3200-meter races in 2013. In addition to multiple regional and district championships, Taylor was named Jefferson District Runner of the Year for the 2011-2012 season and was also his high school's Athlete of the Year. 

Personal
David Rowland Taylor is the son of Douglas and Kimberly Taylor, and has an older brother, Jimmy, and a younger sister, Annie, who is a member of the Cornell women's cross country and track team. His great grandparents attended Cornell in the 1930s. He is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
