Placed 36th with a 24:41.2-minute run at the IC4A/ECAC XC Championship… a personal best at the NCAA Division I Northeast Region Cross Country Championships running a 30:35.4-minute 10k. Â
2022-23 I SOPHOMORE SEASON
Placed 14th in the 8k with a 24:50.7 minute run at the LHU XC Invitational/ Open… set a personal best in the 8k, running it in 24.25.6 minutes at Lehigh Paul Short Run (College)… finished 39th in the 8k with a 25:04.8 minute run at the IC4A/ECAC XC Championship… earned 31st in the 8k with a 25:15.2 minute run at the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships.
2021-22 I FRESHMAN SEASON
Ran in five events during his freshman campaign… recorded a season-best 8K of 25:24.3 at the Paul Short collegiate open race that finished him 24th… capped the season at home with a ninth place finish at the John Reif Memorial run 5K (15:43.5).
PRIOR TO CORNELL
Was a cross country state champion in 2019, a two-time regional champ, a 5-time district champ and a four-time league champ… was named MVP of both his cross country and track teams… left Grandview Heights HS with three school records.
PERSONAL
Derek Andrew Amicon is the son of Vikki Vincent and Mick Amicon… his sister, Nina, runs at DePaul… he is majoring in Computer Science.
