As a Freshman (2019-20)
• Ran at the Reif Memorial (10/25) for 24th-place.
• Competed in five track meets.
• Recorded three top-five placements.
• Lone individual event top-five placement came with a fourth-place finish in the 1000 at the Marc Deneault Invitational (2/22).
Prior to Cornell
• Ran for the cross country and track and field teams for Corning HS.
• Member of the 2017 NY State Championship Cross Country team.
• A member of the first NY Section IV cross country team to qualify for the Nike Cross Country Nationals, qualified in 2017.
• Holds Corning HS freshman, sophomore and junior records in the 600m and 800m.
• Six-time NY State medalist

• John Thomas Cleary is the son of William and Janet Cleary.
• He has one older brother, William, and one younger sister, Margaret.
• Brother, William, will graduate from Cornell in 2021.
• Father, William, cousin, James, and three uncles, David, John and Joe, all graduated from Cornell.
• Cousins, James and John Connolly, were on the track and field teams at Cornell and Georgetown, respectively.
• Enrolled in the College of Engineering.
