2025 | JUNIOR SEASON
Raced five times his junior season highlighted by setting a new 10k PB at the NCAA Division I Championships with a time of 30:32.2, placing 37th... also set a new 5k PB at the Cornell Opener where he placed 7th with a time of 15:52.8.

2024 | SOPHOMORE SEASON
Raced five times his sophomore season highlighted by setting an 8k PB at the Princeton Fall Classic with a time of 23:51.9, placing 51st... placed 28th with a time of 23:57.2 at the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships... qualified for NCAA's where he placed 44th in the 10k with a time of 31:04.2.

2023 | FRESHMAN SEASON
Made his collegiate debut at the 2023 Yellowjacket XC Invitational, placing 6th in the 8k (25:04.1) … set a personal best in the 8k with a 24:53.6-minute run in the IC4A/ECAC XC Championship, finishing 50th.

PRIOR TO CORNELL
Took fourth in the 5k at Nike Outdoor Track and Field Nationals, 14:43 (2023)… PIAA District 3 Champion and record holder in the 3200, 8:59 (2023)… earned fourth-place in the 3200 at PIAA State Track and Field Championships, 8:55 (2023)… finished fourth at the PIAA State Cross Country Championships (2021)... finished 13th at the Champs Sports Northeast Regionals in 2022.

PERSONAL
Matthew O’Brien is the son of Larry and Patricia O’Brien… has a brother… he is enrolled in the College of Engineering.
