Patrick Murphy's up-to-date results

As a Junior (2017-18)

• During track season, set personal best in the 5000 meters at the Valentine Invitational, taking 42nd in 14:59.55.
• Placed fourth in the 5000 at the Big Red Outdoor Invitational (15:47.34)
• Was also fourth in the DMR at the Upstate Challenge (10:35.65).
• Ran in five cross country meets this season taking 46th in the quad meet with Columbia, Brown and NYU before crossing the line first for Cornell in the open race at the Paul Short Run to place 11th overall.
• Then finished the course at the Penn State National Open 57th and turned in a 56th-place showing at the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships.
• Capped off the season at the NCAA Northeast Regional meet, taking 94th.

As a Sophomore (2016-17)
• During sophomore cross country campaign, ran in four races.
• Finished 44th at the Spiked Shoe Invitational and 35th at the Paul Short 8K Gold Race before leading the Cornell pack at the Penn State National Open with a 68th place finish.
• Also ran to 81st place at the Ivy League Heptagonal Cross Country Championships. 
• Competed in four indoor meets for Cornell as a sophomore, earning four top 10 finishes in distance events.
• Finished third in the mile at the Robert J. Kane Invitational (4:21.01), fourth in the 5000 at the Sykes & Sabock Challenge Cup (15:26.73), seventh in the 3000 at the Upstate Challenge (8.48.18) and ninth in the 3000 at the Marc Deneault Memorial (8:51.71).

As a Freshman (2015-16)
• Ran in three cross country races as a freshman, finishing in the top 20 in all three, including a season-best 11th at the Harry F. Anderson Invitational.
• On the track, placed seventh in the 3K at the Cornell Indoor Upstate Challenge.
• Outdoors, was second in the 3K steeplechase at the Big Red Invitational and third at the Cornell Outdoor Upstate Challenge.

Before Cornell
• Murphy was a four-time letter winner as a distance runner for the Duanesburg High School track team and earned three letters in cross country.
• In 2014, he was the NYSPHSAA cross country individual state champion in Class D.
• He was also a member of the National Honors Society and senior class co-president at Duanesburg.
 
Personal
• Patrick James Murphy is the son of Mike and Diane Murphy.
• He has an older brother, Ryan, and is enrolled in the College of Arts and Sciences.
