As a Junior (2017-18)
• Competed once during the track season, helping his DMR team to second (10:36.74) at the Greg Page Relays.
• During the cross country season, placed 36th at the quad meet with Columbia, Brown and NYU and 17th at the Reif Memorial Run.
As a Sophomore (2016-17)
• Competed in two cross country races during his sophomore campaign, placing 88th at the Spiked Shoe Invitational and 68th at the Paul Short 8K Open Race.
• Ran in five meets during the track season, highlighted by second place finishes in the 1500 at both the Cornell Cabin Fever Invitational (4:00.74) and the Bison Outdoor Classic with a personal best (3:46.52).
• Also grabbed a ninth place finish in the 1500 at the Big Red Outdoor Invitational (4:02.23).
As a Freshman (2015-16)
• Ran in four cross country races as a freshman, posting a season-best 17th-place finish at the John Reif Memorial.
• Opened the indoor track season strongly, helping the 4x800 meter relay teams to wins at Greg Page Relays and the Cornell Indoor Upstate Challenge.
• Individually, placed fourth in the mile at the Robert J. Kane Invitational.
Before Cornell
• Buchanan was a six-time sectional champion at Susquehanna Valley and finished second in the New York state championship in the 1600 meters with a time of 4:12.64.
• A four-time letter winner in track and cross country, Buchanan was also a member of the National Technical Honor Society.

• Richard Mark Buchanan is the son of Richard and Jennifer Buchanan.
• He has a brother, Mitchell, and a sister, Jacquelin.
