Tyler Kawalec's up-to-date results

As a Senior (2015-16)

Kawalec ran in five cross country races his senior year, posting a season-best fifth-place finish at the Canisius Alumni Classic. He placed 40th at Ivy League Cross Country Heptagonals.

On the track, he contributed in the distances, finishing fourth in the 5K at the Marc Deneault Invitational indoors and sixth in the same event at the Big Red Invitational outdoors. He also qualified for IC4A Championships in the 10K.

As a Junior (2014-15)
Kawalec finished 23rd at the season-opening meet at Army with a time of 26:17.55, but his best time of the season came at Princeton when he ran the course in 25:17, good for 62nd.

On the track, Kawalec ran to a second-place finish in the 3000 in 8:34.04 at the SPIRE Invitational. He also finished third in the 3000 at the Denault Memorioal and fourth in the 5K at the Kane Invitational. At IC4A Championships, Kawalec improved on his previous performances at the meet, finishing in seventh in the 10,000 at 31:03.58.

As a Sophomore (2013-14)
Kawalec enjoyed a great cross country season in his sophomore year, only missing the Reif Memorial Run in order to prepare for the Ivy League/Heptagonal Championships, where he placed 74th overall with a time of 25:36.4. He also ran at the season-opener against Army, the Boston College Invitational, the Paul Short Men's Gold Run and the Pre-National Open, where he finished 5th (25:13.4).

On the track, Kawalec continued to distinguish himself in the distance events. He notched a 1st place finish with an indoor season best 14:59.04 in the 5000 at the Robert J. Kane Invitational. He ran a career best mile of 4:20.83 in a 1st place finish at the Ithaca College Quad Meet the following week. He posted a new career best 8:33.90 to finish 24th in the 3000 at the SPIRE NCAA Indoor Invitational. He marked a new career best 14:44.55 to finish 14th in the 5000 at the Bison Outdoor Classic. His season of personal bests continued at the Penn Relays, where he posted a 30:42.94 in the 10,000 to place 25th. He concluded the season at the Outdoor IC4A’s, placing 9th in the 10,000.

As a Freshman (2012-13)
Kawalec had a strong first year for Cornell, running distance events on the track. He raced in the 10K at the Outdoor IC4As where he placed 19th. Kawalec had a seasonal best of 15:07.96 in the 5K at the Big Red Invite in April and ran a 30:44.07 10K at the Bison Outdoor Classic earlier in the month.

Before Cornell
Kawalec ran cross country and track throughout high school, competing in the state cross country championship in 2010 and 2011. He was All-Ohio cross country in 2011, a district champion in 2011 and a Cleveland Plain Dealer All-Star  that same year. He was also named the Lake County News-Herald's Cross Country Athlete of the Year in 2011. Kawaleec also spent time as a center fielder on his school's baseblal team.

Personal
Tyler Everett Kawalec is the son of Peter and Nancy Kawalec. He has two brothers, Jack and Nate, and two sisters, Rae and Lee.
